International JKA England Course
August 5th, 2016Medal Design Competition
July 31st, 2016Dear all
This just in from JKA England Competition Organisers
We would like to offer a competition to all students who are 15 years and under to design the next medal for the Open Championships 2016.
The design needs to be circular (ideally drawn inside a circle) which will become a 5-6cm medal. We can format it for final use so entries can be photoed, emailed on word, pdf, JPG, Gif etc and we’ll do our best to convert it accurately. We cannot do colours so black white and grey really. The same design is used for Gold, Silver and Bronze.
The medal should state ‘JKAEngland’ and ‘Open Championships 2016’ on it somewhere but after that almost anything goes.
On offer free competitor entry and 4 spectators free for the winner and JKAE publicity for the winner and maybe more!!
Please get in touch with Brian Gwyther Events Officer with any questions by Friday 19th August (via [email protected])
Good luck to those of you participating..

Stratford Karate Club
July 5th, 2016INVITATION FROM STRATFORD KARATE CLUB
Sensei Salisbury has kindly invited ELJKA students to come and train with her at her dojos (first 2 sessions free £6 per lesson after)
Trainings are held regularly every Monday from 6 PM until 7 PM in Carpenters and Dockland Stratford Centre (E15) located 5 minutes walk from Stratford bus / tube regional station. We also train on Thursdays from 7 PM until 8 PM in Atherton Leisure Centre. Trainings will take place during summer holidays except for one week in August when the Dojo will be closed from August 8th to August 12th.
I would very much appreciate if you could let your students know of these trainings. I would especially welcome participation from your younger lower coloured belts, mainly children with yellow belts. They could show peer-fun to my beginners and show my students what they can strive for. Of course, your students will have an opportunity to practice and develop their basics during the lessons, too. We have a punchy makiwara-like ‘doll-man’ that we use every Monday to punch and kick that students are welcome to use.
Do please try to get to these lessons to help with the growth of Stratford Karate Club..Sensei Salisbury is an excellent Instructor very patient and very knowledgable.

Club 50 Award
June 26th, 2016We are delighted to report that the Club has been awarded Club 50 Award for consistently having 50 -100 students regularly training and with in date JKA licences.. We received our award at this weekend National Competition 2016.
As a Chief Instructor I am incredibly humbled by our Club’s success, I can hand in heart say that we have far exceeded all my predictions and aspirations, we have an amazing team of Instructors who help out on a weekly basis but most importantly we have loyal students and parents and friends who make the Club what it is, a family orientated and great place to learn discipline and values that will enhance your daily life.
Thank you all for this wonderful gift to the Club and be proud as the award is also part of you..

Club Grading Assessment
June 21st, 2016Club Grading Assessments purple belts and above..
SATURDAY 23rd JULY 10.15am to 11.45am NEWHAM LEISURE CENTRE
Brown belts and above please have mits and gumshields
Please note that purple belts and above will be required to attend the above Saturday session for their grading assessment, we have had to do this as there have been some minor changes to the syllabus and the assessments take longer to do..Saturday session will give us a chance to take a good look at everyone and to appraise the students performance..
In the unlikely event where a student is unable to attend the assessment date for any reason, we regret to inform you that it will not be possible to put you forward for grading.
Anyone needing to retake the last grading ie that are on a temporary pass, will need to retake this assessment first, if successful they can take the next level assessment..
As usual if you train once a week you need a minimum of six months in between grading to attempt assessment this is reduced to three months if you train twice a week..In addition you must have 80% attendance to classes..
It is now harder to pass assessment, this is because standards are harder to attain, please be patient and train hard a minimum of twice a week to have a fair chance of getting through the assessment..
Good luck everyone
