Over 100 competitors took part in the first London Interclub Championship on the 2nd of June .

Six JKA England Shotokan Karate clubs from London and Essex gathered together for students to compete against each other.

For many of the competitors it was their first taste of a competition and fighting for a medal.

The championship included Kata and Kumite rounds, from three step sparring (Sanbon kumite) to free style (kumite).

All 203 Photographs are in Interclub2012 under timetable2012 .

The Competition ran smooth and all the competitors enjoyed themselves enormously. We have already been asked to prepare another one for next year, keep looking in this space..

Thank you for your Kind support with all Club activities.

KATA COURSE

April 19th, 2012

KATA COURSE

Thursday 17th May

Sensei Adel Ismael 5th Dan JKA

We are very pleased to comment that the KATA course was a complete success and that student attendance was adequate. Newham Leisure Centre gave us  plenty of space to do the drills that were required.

All three sessions were well atended, though the traffic in the surrounding area was difficult due to some road closures.

Sensei Ismail was excellent and we all enjoyed the KATAS and BUNKAI (applications) that were shown. We had excellent comments on the last session, Brown belts and above enjoyed the Katas Kanku-dai and Hangetsu.

All students went away with  lots to remember and study for future grading.

Thank you all for your incredible support.

License Update

April 19th, 2012

The note below is no longer valid as fron January 2013… OSS

Please note

From this week we have  introduced a £1 additional charge to renewals and new licenses.

This charge is to cover the stamp and envelope duty required to acquire the documents, this is a reflection on stamp prices being considerable higher than four years ago.

(The Club has tried to cover this hidden cost for a long time and it now no longer sustainable as we have more overheads).

Thank you for your understanding

Club Committee.

All Students

February 4th, 2012

We bring to your attention for 2012

May International Course Friday 4th to Monday 7th

September Autum International Course  Friday 28th to Sunday 30th

We ask  all students to attend and support these events, Instructors will be from JKA Headquarters and only come on these two ocassions, as a Club we are expected to fully support these events.

We would advice students to attend at least the weekend if you cannot attend the whole course.

Please note that we will be taking names plus a £5 deposit for a weekend coach to do Saturday and Sunday for both courses, the only way this will happen is if we have a full coach. If interested please see the Instructor. We will work on a first come first served basis.

Please be aware that once you have paid your deposit, in the unlikely event that you can not attend, you will be expected to pay the full amount for the fare, we will try our best to find a replacement student, but if it is not possible then you will need to pay.

For  a ball parker figure the cost for travel be £20 for two days for the coach plus daily cost of two days training £55 ( last years prices ). Total cost £75 – £80  to attend the course Saturday Sunday.

Please note your license will not be stamped if you only attend two days. The cost of the training can be paid on the day, this will be done by the instructor after collecting the fees for everyone. We will also need to fill in a Disclaimer for everyone, under 18,  parents will need to sign this, again no disclaimer no course.(Disclaimers will be available two weeks before the course ask Instructor)

The cost is quite high but there again so is the standard of tuition, we have given plenty of warning so that we can all save up and try to get to these events that happen twice a year.

ALL STUDENTS NEED AN IN-DATE JKA LICENSE TO ATTEND ALL JKA ENGLAND COURSES NO LICENSE NO COURSE!!

All brown belts must attend if they are to attempt Shodan grading in the future, do note that brown belts need to have two full sessions stamped on their license before grading for shodan.( if you have not attended two courses before hand we cannot put you forward for black belt grading even if you passed your assesment with the Club, these are regulations from the Association). One of the sessions can be the one attended on the day of your Shodan exam.

There are also regional courses which all of us can attend, again we would organise something if there are sufficent students/parents to fill the coach minimum of 45.

Thank you for your support with the Club
